Remote (United States or Canada) Contract Platform: Mercor

About the Role

A high-impact infrastructure intelligence initiative is seeking experienced network engineers to support the development of AI-driven networking systems. This opportunity focuses on transforming real-world enterprise network data into structured datasets that can be used to train and improve autonomous infrastructure technologies.

This opportunity is ideal for professionals currently operating at the highest levels of network support and escalation management who are interested in the intersection of networking, data operations, and machine learning. Candidates should be comfortable working with complex production environments and analyzing network behavior at scale.

The work involves reviewing operational network data, identifying patterns and anomalies, and helping structure information for large-scale data pipelines. Success in this role requires strong troubleshooting expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to interpret infrastructure events accurately.

What You'll Do

  • Review network logs, configurations, telemetry data, and event streams from production environments
  • Label and classify network behaviors, incidents, anomalies, and performance patterns
  • Analyze packet captures and infrastructure data to identify operational issues
  • Support root cause analysis activities through structured data review
  • Define and refine data schemas used in infrastructure intelligence pipelines
  • Document network events and classifications consistently and accurately
  • Collaborate with technical stakeholders to improve data quality standards
  • Contribute to datasets used for machine learning and autonomous networking systems
  • Participate in direct collaboration sessions with project teams as required
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy when processing large volumes of network data

Requirements

  • Current experience as a Level 3, Tier 3, Principal, or equivalent senior network support engineer
  • Hands-on experience managing enterprise networking environments and production infrastructure
  • Strong background in troubleshooting outages, incident response, and escalation management
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and interpreting network events
  • Proficiency with packet analysis and network diagnostic tools
  • Knowledge of switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and enterprise networking technologies
  • Experience supporting customer-facing network environments across industries such as healthcare, retail, manufacturing, financial services, education, or hospitality
  • Ability to interpret logs, telemetry, configuration data, and operational metrics
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
  • Interest in data pipelines, machine learning workflows, and AI infrastructure applications
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Availability to contribute approximately 30–40 hours per week
  • Eligibility to work as an independent contractor in the United States or Canada
  • Preferred experience with large-scale infrastructure monitoring platforms
  • Preferred familiarity with data annotation, classification, or structured data review processes
  • Preferred understanding of how operational infrastructure data is used in machine learning systems
