About the Role
A structured engineering evaluation initiative focused on applying practical mechanical design expertise to CAD development, engineering documentation, manufacturability, and technical quality assessment for AI training.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced mechanical design engineers with strong CAD skills and hands-on knowledge of manufacturing processes. Candidates should be comfortable interpreting technical requirements, applying GD&T, and evaluating designs for production readiness.
The work involves creating and reviewing 2D and 3D CAD models, interpreting engineering drawings, documenting design intent, and assessing manufacturability. Precision, technical accuracy, and clear communication are critical.
What You'll Do
- Create and interpret professional engineering drawings for manufacturing.
- Translate design requirements into accurate, manufacturable CAD specifications.
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D models using relevant CAD platforms.
- Apply dimensioning, tolerancing, and GD&T principles to engineering deliverables.
- Document manufacturing processes, design intent, and technical decisions.
- Review and critique existing engineering drawings and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve design clarity, accuracy, and manufacturability.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to production-oriented designs.
- Evaluate material selections and manufacturing approaches for practical production requirements.
- Provide clear technical feedback and recommendations on engineering work.
Requirements
- Extensive professional experience in mechanical design and engineering.
- Demonstrated experience taking mechanical components from concept through manufacturing.
- Strong proficiency with one or more major CAD platforms, including SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, or NX.
- Familiarity with FreeCAD for model interpretation or reference.
- Strong knowledge of engineering drawing standards, dimensioning, tolerancing, and GD&T.
- Practical understanding of manufacturing processes and material selection.
- Ability to apply DFM principles to real-world mechanical designs.
- Strong technical documentation and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain engineering decisions and concepts clearly.
- Strong precision, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to review technical work and provide constructive, specific feedback.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote project environment.
