A specialized legal initiative focused on energy infrastructure and regulatory compliance is seeking experienced attorneys to support high-stakes project workflows. The work centers on ensuring legal accuracy and regulatory alignment across interconnection, permitting, and site control documentation for utility-scale energy developments.
This opportunity is ideal for attorneys with deep experience in energy regulation, particularly within PJM markets, who can independently assess complex filings and provide clear, structured legal judgments. It suits professionals who are comfortable operating in document-intensive environments requiring precision and regulatory expertise.
The work involves reviewing and validating interconnection and permitting documentation, resolving escalated legal issues, and delivering standardized legal assessments, where mastery of federal regulations and regional compliance frameworks is critical for success.
What You'll Do
- Review and provide final legal sign-off on site control and interconnection documentation
- Evaluate compliance of project filings with FERC regulations and PJM requirements
- Resolve escalated document disputes and ensure legal accuracy across submissions
- Assess permitting documentation for transmission and generation projects
- Produce structured legal findings and opinions in standardized formats
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to address complex compliance issues
- Monitor regulatory updates and apply changes to ongoing project evaluations
Requirements
- Active bar membership with a focus on energy, regulatory, or infrastructure law
- 8+ years of legal experience in energy markets or related regulatory environments
- Demonstrated expertise in PJM interconnection processes and site control requirements
- Strong knowledge of FERC regulations for transmission and generation projects
- Experience reviewing and validating complex legal and compliance documentation
- Ability to deliver precise, structured legal analysis in a remote environment
- Professional experience within law firms, utilities, independent power producers, or regulatory bodies
- Based in or experienced with East Coast energy regulatory frameworks
- Experience serving as lead or senior counsel on interconnection matters (preferred)
- Direct exposure to ISOs, transmission developers, or federal regulatory agencies (preferred)
- Familiarity with utility-scale renewable energy permitting (solar, wind, transmission) (preferred)
