Building Code & Permitting Specialist (AI Training)
About the Role
A high-impact initiative is developing AI systems designed to streamline construction permitting, regulatory compliance, and plan review workflows. This opportunity focuses on integrating real-world regulatory expertise into structured data environments to improve how automated systems interpret and apply building codes.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals with deep familiarity in jurisdictional permitting processes, building codes, and compliance review. It suits professionals who have operated within municipal systems, architectural design, or permit coordination and are comfortable translating complex regulatory frameworks into structured logic.
The work involves reviewing and annotating construction-related data, validating AI-generated outputs, and contributing domain expertise to ensure accuracy across jurisdictions. Success in this role depends on precision, consistency, and the ability to interpret nuanced regulatory requirements.

- Identify and classify building code requirements and jurisdiction-specific compliance rules
- Audit annotated datasets to ensure alignment with local, state, and national regulations
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy in zoning, permitting, and code compliance
- Define annotation standards for interpreting regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions
- Provide input on complex scenarios such as variances, mixed-use zoning, and edge cases
- Deliver structured feedback to improve AI model reasoning and regulatory accuracy
- Contribute to documentation and training materials for annotation workflows
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with building codes, permitting workflows, and regulatory compliance
- Background in permit expediting, architecture, or government plan review
- Ability to interpret jurisdiction-specific rules and translate them into structured formats
