Expert Senior Software Engineer — AI Systems

A high-impact AI initiative is seeking expert-level senior software engineering contributors to support challenging software engineering tasks for advanced foundation-model development.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals with 10+ years of software engineering experience, particularly those with backgrounds at leading technology companies and strong expertise in solving complex engineering problems.
The work involves evaluating, developing, and improving AI capabilities on sophisticated SWE tasks within a structured project environment, where technical depth, accuracy, and consistent execution are critical.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement solutions to complex software engineering tasks
- Evaluate AI-generated solutions for correctness, quality, and technical robustness
- Analyze difficult coding and software architecture problems
- Provide technically precise feedback that improves model performance
- Complete project exercises, instructions, and evaluation activities
- Deliver approximately 20 hours of work per week during the engagement
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong experience solving complex software engineering and coding problems
- Background at leading US technology companies or comparable engineering environments
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote, asynchronous setting
- Availability for approximately 20 hours per week
- Strong written technical communication and analytical skills
- Ability to complete a 30-minute AI-based interview
- Ability to complete an approximately 2-hour asynchronous SWE exercise and project instructions assessment
- Availability for a short-term contract of approximately 2–3 weeks
- Eligible to work under an independent-contractor arrangement
- United States or Europe-based
- H-1B and STEM OPT sponsorship/status support is not available
- Preferred: Experience with AI/ML systems, foundation models, model evaluation, coding agents, or AI-assisted software engineering
