Senior Software Engineer — AI Coding Evaluation

A structured AI initiative focused on improving next-generation software engineering systems through high-quality coding tasks, realistic implementation challenges, and deterministic evaluation. The work centers on creating and validating programming problems involving feature development, debugging, and code quality.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced software engineers with strong backend development skills, solid computer science fundamentals, and practical experience working with production codebases. Prior AI experience is not required; demonstrated software engineering expertise is the primary qualification.
The work involves designing challenging coding tasks, implementing reliable verifiers, debugging solutions, refactoring existing code, and evaluating technical correctness. Strong judgment around edge cases, performance, testing, and code quality is critical.
What You'll Do
- Create realistic and technically challenging coding tasks for AI systems
- Implement deterministic verifiers that accept valid solutions and reject invalid solutions
- Develop and evaluate feature implementations and bug fixes
- Debug software and identify root causes of defects
- Refactor codebases to improve maintainability and reliability
- Analyze and optimize software performance and system bottlenecks
- Review code for correctness, quality, security, and edge-case handling
- Apply algorithms, data structures, and foundational computer science principles to technical problems
Requirements
- Strong professional experience with Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, C++, or comparable languages
- Demonstrated backend development experience building scalable services and APIs
- Strong debugging, automated testing, and performance optimization skills
- Experience implementing complex features in established codebases
- Ability to reason about algorithms, data structures, and software behavior
- Strong code review and technical judgment skills
- Ability to work independently in a structured remote environment
- Availability for approximately 15 hours per week with flexible scheduling
- Ability to complete technical assessments and project work independently without outside assistance
- Preferred: cybersecurity or SecOps experience, including secure coding, application security, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, OWASP/CWE, or security-focused code reviews
- Preferred: demonstrated experience identifying and resolving software bugs and system bottlenecks
