About the Role

A specialized legal AI initiative is seeking Intellectual Property professionals to contribute to the development and evaluation of advanced legal reasoning systems. The work focuses on improving how AI models interpret patent prosecution workflows, trademark practice, prior art analysis, and broader IP-related legal reasoning tasks.

This opportunity is well suited for patent agents, patent attorneys, trademark practitioners, and IP litigators with practical experience in prosecution, litigation support, or IP advisory work. Professionals with technical backgrounds in engineering, computer science, chemistry, or life sciences are particularly aligned with patent-focused evaluation tasks.

The work involves designing realistic IP scenarios, reviewing AI-generated legal analyses, and producing high-quality reference responses where precision, analytical rigor, and procedural accuracy are critical.

What You'll Do

  • Design realistic Intellectual Property legal scenarios and evaluation prompts
  • Develop attorney-level or agent-level reference responses for IP matters
  • Evaluate AI-generated outputs using structured legal review frameworks
  • Review Office Action responses, prior art analyses, clearance opinions, and patent drafting tasks
  • Assess trademark prosecution workflows and TTAB-related reasoning tasks
  • Provide written feedback to improve legal reasoning quality and model behavior
  • Analyze AI-generated responses for procedural accuracy and legal consistency
  • Participate in onboarding sessions and calibration discussions
  • Work independently within asynchronous remote project environments
  • Maintain high standards for legal precision, clarity, and analytical reasoning

Requirements

  • Registered patent agent, patent attorney, trademark practitioner, or IP legal professional with relevant credentials in good standing
  • Experience with USPTO, CIPO, UKIPO, trademark prosecution, or IP litigation workflows
  • 1–4 years of professional experience in Intellectual Property prosecution or litigation
  • Strong understanding of patent drafting, Office Action practice, prior art analysis, and IP strategy
  • Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to evaluate complex legal reasoning objectively and consistently
  • Technical background in engineering, computer science, chemistry, life sciences, or related field preferred for patent-focused work
  • Comfort working independently in a fully remote asynchronous environment
  • Availability for a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • Must be located in the United States, Canada, or United Kingdom
  • Preferred: Experience with claim charts, invalidity analysis, Markman hearing preparation, IPR, or Post-Grant Review matters
  • Preferred: Familiarity with patent analytics tools such as Google Patents, PatSnap, or Derwent
  • Preferred: Experience reviewing AI-generated legal content or structured evaluation workflows involving systems such as ChatGPT or related tools
