Financial Crime & AML Analyst – KYC, Sanctions & Transaction Monitoring
About the Role
A structured remote opportunity for experienced financial-crime professionals to complete realistic case exercises covering transaction monitoring, KYC/CDD, sanctions screening, fraud, and beneficial ownership. Work products are based on mock case files and evaluated against defined quality criteria.
This opportunity is ideal for professionals with hands-on AML, KYC/CDD, sanctions, fraud, or transaction-surveillance experience who can produce clear, defensible analytical rationales. Strong familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance documentation standards is important.
The work involves adjudicating alerts, identifying discrepancies, resolving ownership structures, evaluating potential sanctions or adverse-media matches, and producing analyst-level documentation, where accurate risk assessment and well-supported conclusions are critical.
What You'll Do
- Adjudicate transaction-monitoring alerts using KYC/CDD profiles and transaction histories
- Document alert dispositions and draft SAR narratives when warranted
- Review KYC and client-onboarding documentation for completeness and discrepancies
- Prepare remediation lists based on identified KYC/CDD gaps
- Analyze multi-layer beneficial-ownership structures using applicable UBO thresholds
- Adjudicate sanctions and adverse-media screening results as true matches, false positives, or escalations
- Provide concise, defensible rationales for case decisions
- Triage supervisory alert queues and prioritize case reviews
- Analyze card-fraud and dispute cases
- Assess flagged communications against relevant transaction records
- Complete structured compliance case exercises within defined assessment requirements
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in AML, financial crime, KYC/CDD, sanctions screening, fraud/disputes, or transaction surveillance
- Experience in banking, fintech, payments, or money-services environments
- Working knowledge of FinCEN, FATF, and OFAC frameworks
- Working knowledge of SAR and CDD documentation standards
- Strong financial-crime case analysis and adjudication skills
- Ability to produce clear, concise, and defensible written rationales
- Ability to analyze transaction histories, customer profiles, and supporting documentation
- United States-based availability
- Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
- CAMS/ACAMS or CFE certification preferred
- Experience with enhanced due diligence and complex entity ownership analysis preferred
- SQL or transaction-analytics experience preferred
- Fintech or payments experience preferred
